Another is at Plaza Catalunya in the center of town, and the fourth is at Plaza St. Jaume I (entrance is on the left side of the City Hall) in the Cuitat Vella.

:: What's the deal with the siesta?

The siesta is the time of day when most shops close for a few hours and everybody takes a long break. This is very nice if you work at one of these shops, but for those who actually want to get something done during the day, it can be a bit of a pain. To plan you shopping and errand running accordingly, most business hours are 9 or 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 or 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Aside from restaurants, cafes and bars, most places are closed on Sundays.

:: How do I use the post?

If you need to send or receive a package, the Central Post Office is at Pl. Antoni Lopéz (see map - pgs. 10-11). To get there, just go down to the bottom of Las Ramblas, take a left at the waterfront, and walk until you his the first big intersection. The post office is the big building on the left. It's open M - F from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Sat. from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If you just need to send a letter or a postcard, look for the yellow post boxes. The left slot (cuidad - ciutat) is for mail within Barcelona. The right side (otros destinos) is for everywhere else. The cost for sending letters and postcards is €.25 in Spain, €.50 elsewhere in Europe and €1.25 to the Americas and Asia and Down Under. You can buy stamps tobacco shops (estancos), and you can post your letters or postcards from there as well. Just look for the "tabacos" sign.
